Determination of Abrasiveness in Copper-Gold Sulfide Ores: A Contribution to the Geometallurgical Model of the Sossego Deposit

The geological context of this study is established in the iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG) deposit Sossego (Canaã dos Carajás, Brazil), where hydrothermal alterations shear zones concentrated metals interest and added new characteristics to metavolcanic-sedimentary granite rocks. mineral transformation rocks by hypersaline fluids enriched silica also modifies some metallurgical properties, such as abrasiveness. Special bench tests on rock drill cores are used mapping abrasiveness rocks, with Bond abrasion test being more commonly mining industry, but it has a restrictive sampling protocol mass requirement for geometallurgical studies. As counterpoint, Laboratoire Central des Ponts et Chaussées/Central Laboratory Bridges Roads (LCPC) requires smaller amount fine material finer granulometric range. use LCPC was implemented 40 samples, using Ai reference. results showed strong correlation between both methodologies (R2 = 95%), validating quantify mine. It possible classify most abrasive lithologies.
